Welcome to v-Consult user guide for patients

v-Consult is an online consultation service, a convenient and efficient way to access medical and administrative support from your GP practice. With v-Consult, you can:

Request a new consultation/appointment.
Request a follow-up appointment.
Request a long-term condition review with the nurse.
Request a medication query with a pharmacist or a doctor.
Request a sick note.
Make admin enquiries, such as new patient registration, test results, etc.
Access to Self-care and other useful information.
Access NHS symptom checker.

How secure is the v-consult product?

Capri Healthcare is NHS DSP Toolkit assessed and is also Cyber Essentials Plus certified. Our Data centres are UK based and conform to ISO27001:2017 standards. We endeavour to meet all relevant NHS Digital Interoperability standards.
v-Consult product has passed the Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA). DPIA is a process to help you identify and                   minimise the data protection risks of a project.
We are certified with Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus.
The product also passed the Penetration test.

What is the online consultation privacy policy?

By law, all organisations that use personal information (personal data) must provide a clear description of how it is used and also provide any related information to ensure the processing is carried out lawfully and fairly. Your GPs main Privacy Notice is available on their website. The additional information provided below describes only the use of your information when you use your GPs online consultation service.
Please ensure you read your GPs main Privacy Policy and if you wish to use their online consultation service here, please also read the supplementary information below:

Your GP Practice has engaged a specialised online consultation supplier which is approved to NHS England technical standards and has gone through stringent scrutiny and achieved all necessary requirements to provide Online Consultations. NHS England, on behalf of your GP, contracts with the supplier and acts as a Joint Controller with your GP for this system. However, NHS England will not receive any of your personal information, so your GP remains responsible for your data and will ensure that any data you provide to use this service is used for the online consultation purposes only.

What are the purposes of the processing?

Online consultations allow the GP’s patients to contact the Practice without having to wait on the phone or take time to come into the practice in person especially if a patient is not sure whether they need a face-to-face consultation. Online consultations enable patients to use a secure online system to ask questions, report symptoms and we can then respond by signposting patients to the right person e.g., a doctor or to appropriate service or support.

Submit an Online Consultation Request

Navigate to your practice website, on the Home page, click on Online consultation or v-Consult to request an online consultation. 
1.1. Please check the box to confirm that you are a registered patient.
1.2. Click on the Start on the Homepage of the v-Consult.


1.3. If you have an NHS login, click the "Continue to NHS login" button to proceed with authentication.
1.4. If you do not have an NHS login or prefer to proceed without one, click "Continue as guest". Please keep your NHS number handy, as you will be required to enter the NHS details of the patient to proceed.


1.5. On the next page, click on I need help for myself, if you want are seeking medical help for yourself. If you are seeking medical help for someone else, click on I need help on behalf of a patient.



1.6. After selecting I need help for myself, fill all your personal information and click on Next to proceed. If you are submitting on behalf of a patient, you will be asked to enter the Proxy details, followed by the patient details.
          


1.7. To request a new consultation with a doctor, click on Consult a Doctor under How can we help you today?



1.8. Select the service. Example - Click on New consultation with a doctor.  


1.9. Select that it’s a Non-urgent request and click Next.



1.10. Fill up the form as much as possible in detail and click Next.




1.11. A summary of your request will be shown. If you'd like to modify your answers, click Back to return to the previous page and make the changes.


1.12. Provide consent to process your personal data and text messaging services and click Submit. After submitting the request, you will be redirected to a confirmation screen, where you can download a copy of the request you have submitted.


Submit General and Admin Enquiries

a. Follow the above steps 1.1 to 1.6 and click on Admin Query.




b. You will be redirected to a list of General and Admin Enquiry Forms. Click on the form which you want to submit and follow the prompts.



Get self-care and NHS Symptom Checker 

a.    Follow the above steps 1.1 to 1.6 and click on Self care and self management.




Provide Feedback for v-Consult

a.    After submitting the online consultation request (Steps 1.1 to 1.12), you will be redirected to a confirmation screen. You can provide the feedback by clicking on Feedback. You can follow the prompts and click on submit at the end to share your feedback.
